Cervical Screening: Invitation & Booking Guide
Key Information
- You will be invited for your first cervical screening about six months before you turn 25, and then every three to five years until you're 64.
- Booking your appointment is easy. You can call reception or use our online service. If you've missed a previous invitation, please don't worry. It's never too late to book.
- To help us get the best sample, try to book your appointment for a day when you are not on your period.
- Your comfort is our priority. You can always ask for a longer appointment if you're nervous or request that a female doctor or nurse performs the test.
What Happens Next?
Receiving your invitation letter is the first step in a simple process that provides powerful, life-saving prevention.
We are here to support you at every stage, so please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions.
If you are a trans man or a non-binary person with a cervix, please contact our reception team so we can make sure you are properly registered on our system to receive your invitations.
Important: Do Not Wait for Screening If You Have Symptoms
Cervical screening is for people who feel perfectly well. If you are experiencing any kind of unusual bleeding (for example, between your periods, during or after sex, or any bleeding after you have gone through the menopause), please do not wait for a screening appointment.
