Your Child's Vaccination Appointment: What to Expect
Key Information
- By bringing your child for their vaccinations, you are giving them powerful, long-lasting protection against serious diseases like measles, meningitis, and polio.
- You are not only protecting your own child, but you are also helping to shield our entire community, including other babies who are too young for their jabs and vulnerable people who cannot be vaccinated.
What Happens Next?
- Before you arrive: Please remember to bring your child’s red book and dress them in loose, easy-access clothing. A calm and positive parent often helps make for a more relaxed baby.
- During the appointment: The safest place for your child is on your knee. The injection is over in just a few seconds, and a cuddle from you is the best comfort.
- Afterwards: It is very normal for your child to be a bit irritable or develop a slight fever. This is a positive sign that their immune system is responding to the vaccine and learning how to protect them. We will provide you with specific aftercare advice before you leave.
