Pharmacy First
Key Information
- Pharmacy First allows your local pharmacist to provide NHS advice and, if needed, prescription treatments for seven common conditions, without you needing to see a GP.
- This service is a fast and convenient way to get care, as you can often walk into a pharmacy and ask for a consultation without an appointment.
- Pharmacists are highly trained medical professionals who follow the same national clinical pathways we use at the surgery to make sure your care is safe and effective.
- A record of your pharmacy consultation is always sent back to us, so your GP medical record is kept fully up-to-date.
What Happens Next?
The next time you or your family have symptoms of one of the following seven conditions, save yourself time and think Pharmacy First. The service covers:
- Sinusitis (for ages 12 and over)
- Sore throat (for ages 5 and over)
- Acute earache (for children aged 1 to 17)
- Infected insect bites (for ages 1 and over)
- Impetigo (for ages 1 and over)
- Shingles (for ages 18 and over)
- Urinary tract infections in women (for ages 16 to 64)
You can still contact us here at the practice if you prefer, but we strongly encourage you to try this fantastic service first.
