- Know the Signs: While most chest infections resolve with rest, it is important to recognise specific symptoms that indicate you need medical attention.
- Severe Symptoms: High fever, rapid heartbeat, sharp chest pain, or coughing up blood are clear indicators that you should seek advice.
- Changes in Behaviour: Sudden confusion, disorientation, or drowsiness are serious red flags.
- Breathing Difficulties: If you are becoming very breathless or struggling to speak in full sentences, you need urgent assessment.
- At-Risk Groups: Patients with long-term conditions (such as COPD, heart disease, or immune system issues) should contact us sooner rather than later.
