The 4 Ts: Spotting the Signs of Type 2 Diabetes

- Silent Symptoms: Type 2 diabetes can develop very slowly. Because the signs are not always obvious, it is easy to miss them.
- The 4 Ts: To help you spot the warning signs, remember “The 4 Ts”:
- Toilet: Going to the toilet more often than usual, especially needing to get up during the night to pass urine.
- Thirsty: Feeling thirsty all the time and being unable to quench your thirst, no matter how much you drink.
- Tired: Feeling much more tired than usual without a clear reason (fatigue).
- Thinner: Losing weight without trying to.
- Other Warning Signs:
- Blurred vision.
- Cuts and grazes taking longer than usual to heal.
What Happens Next?
If you recognise any of these symptoms, especially the 4 Ts, it is important that you do not ignore them. Early detection allows for better management and can prevent complications.
